Which GIS is for you?
ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS for Server, & ArcGIS Online.
ArcGIS for Desktop
ArcGIS® for Desktop is the primary authoring tool for the ArcGIS platform.
Beyond showing your data as points on a map, ArcGIS for Desktop gives you the power to manage and integrate your data, perform advanced analysis, model and automate operational processes, and display your results on professional-quality maps.
In addition, you can share your maps and GIS resources with ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS for Server. You can also easily package maps and layers and make that content available via ArcGIS Online.
ArcGIS for Server
You can use ArcGIS® for Server to create services from your mapping and geographic information system (GIS) content, centrally administer those services, and distribute them throughout your organization and on the web. These services can be easily optimized for and integrated with web, mobile, and desktop applications, as well as other services.
ArcGIS Online
ArcGIS Online is a cloud-based platform for making and sharing maps, apps, and other geographic data and content.
